LG's mobile chief hints at design overhaul for upcoming G4

LG notably opted not to announce the next entry into its G series at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, but it sounds like the company has big plans for an overhaul of the design and user experience of its upcoming G4 flagship. The Korea Times reports:
LG said the G4 will be radically different from the G3. It will have major overhaul in surface design and deliver significant improvements in user-experience (UX).
"We will announce LG UX 4.0 before announcing the LG G4. I think it is simply the best and the issue is how to best fit the new UX system into the G4 smartphone," Cho told reporters.
Juno also said that LG is looking to push production of its own processors to power future devices, reducing its current dependence on chip offerings from Qualcomm. This is something LG has already taken a shot at with the release of the G3 Screen in October of last year.
While we don't yet have a launch date for the LG G4, the Korea Times notes that it is expected to be revealed sometime next month. LG previously unveiled the curvaceous G Flex 2 at CES in January, which was the first Android device to carry Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor.

No LG G4 until at least April, Korean news outlet reports

File this one under expected and obvious: Korea Times is reporting that LG isn't announcing the next version of its flagship line — the LG G4, if the naming convention remains consistent — until at least April. That would give it distance from the Samsung Galaxy S6, which we're expecting to see at Mobile World Congress on March 1.
On the other hand, LG hasn't ever announced its flagship phone at Mobile World Congress. Instead, it used that stage in 2013 and 2014 to announce the LG G Pro and LG G Pro 2, respectively. We're not expecting a new G Pro model, with the LG G Flex 2 supplanting that line.
The LG G3 was announced in late May 2014 at events in New York and London.
From Korea Times
"LG Electronics decided not to release the G4 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition in Barcelona in March," a source said. "It may release it in April." The G3 was released on May 27 of last year.
