Android 5.0 Lollipop now running on 3.3 percent of devices

The March numbers for Android version distribution are out today, and Android 5.0 Lollipop saw a slight bump to 3.3 percent device coverage compared to 1.6 percent when it first landed on the chart last month.

KitKat enjoyed a slight bump to 40.9 percent of devices, up from 39.7 a month ago. Jelly Bean (versions 4.1 through 4.3), on the other hand, dropped slightly from 44.5 percent of devices in February to 42.6 percent in March. Earlier versions are, of course, down as well, with Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread holding onto 5.9 percent and 6.9 percent of devices respectively, and with Froyo still clinging to 0.4 percent of the device share.

Though the number of devices running Lollipop is still pretty low, it looks like its rollout to various carrier flavors of devices like the LG G3 and the Galaxy S5 has helped to boost things slightly. As always, keep in mind that these numbers are comprised of all devices that visited the Google Play store in the 7 days leading up to March 2.
